Friends of WSA

Who are we?

The Friends of Windermere St. Anne’s committee members are volunteers. Some of us have children at Elleray, some of us have children at Browhead and some of us have children in both schools. The committee also comprises staff helpers who act as liaision between school and the committee members. We have two main activities – fundraising for extras for our children and organising social events.  These events, such as the annual Friends’ Ball held in the Autumn Term, the hotly-contested Quiz Night held in the Spring Term and various other functions are very popular and provide the opportunity for parents, teachers and students to socialise in a more informal setting.

How we have helped

In the last year, the Friends provided £10,000 towards the purchase of a new school minibus which will be utilised by both Elleray and Browhead children.  In the recent past, we have contributed funds to the purchase of portable floodlights, sports equipment and new boats for Hodge Howe. We fund annual Form Effort prizes for both Browhead and Elleray which are awarded at the school Speech Days. The Friends also fund the purchase of interval ice-creams when the children go on theatre trips. Each year, we ask for suggestions from the children and staff as to how we should spend the money we have raised. In this way, we ensure that the money we all help to raise is spent in a way that is relevant to the children.

Can you help?

We love to have new volunteers and even if you do not wish to be a form co-ordinator or a committee member, please support us by coming along to social events or by volunteering to help. It is a great way to get to know other parents, teachers and children within school. If you have a special talent or great fundraising ideas, please come and talk to us as we would love to hear from you. All committee members and form co-ordinators can be contacted via the School offices.
