Sixth Form

Teacher:pupil ratios vary depending upon the activity taken. The programme for these year groups attempts to cover a variety of activities which may be new to the students and which will encourage them to keep fit and active throughout their Sixth form.

There is an element of choice in year 13 again attempting to meet the needs and wishes of this group in their final year at school. They have the choice of football, netball, rugby, aerobics, basketball, volleyball, sailing, kayaking, canoeing and visiting Kendal Leisure Centre.

GCSE and A2 Qualifications

Edexcel is the exam board used. Year 10 and 11 follow the GCSE course. 60% of the course is practical and 40% is examination. Pupils study why we participate in PE, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and effects of exercise.

Links with the local community

Pupils are encouraged to follow their sporting interests at club level either locally or in their home towns. Strong links have been forged with Windermere Netball Club, Ambleside and Windermere Hockey Clubs, Troutbeck Swimming Club, Windermere Tennis, Rugby, Squash and Badminton Clubs, Ambleside Ladies Rugby and Kendal Athletics Club.

These organisations not only encourage juniors but also hire school facilities on occasions which create easier access for Windermere St. Anne's pupils to get involved. Arrangements have also been made for us to use the Kendal Leisure Centre's facilities as part of our Sixth form P.E. programme.
