Drama
The Drama Department is a central part of the School's make up. This is evident both in terms of curriculum delivery and offering opportunities for pupils to participate in activities and performances outside the classroom.
Academic Structure
Key Stage 3
Drama in Key Stage 3 focuses on the major elements of drama. Students are provided with information on how they operate independently and collaboratively in order to create dramatic meaning. This knowledge and understanding becomes fundamental in their ability to problem solve, work as a team and generate practical based performance work.
The major elements of drama explored are FOCUS, ACTION, CHARACTERS and TENSION. (F.A.C.T). This informs all other areas of drama and performance, including technical and artistic, whilst informing analysis of live and recorded dramatic performances.
GCSE
GCSE Drama is all about understanding what it is like to put yourself in somebody else's shoes. You will play many parts in different imaginary situations. You will have the opportunity to create your own work, as well as look at plays written by other people.
Theatre Studies A Level (AS/A2)
AS Forms 50% of the assessment weighting of the full A Level. The AS is studied in the first year. AS can be taken as a stand-alone specification or as part of the full A Level course.

The Theatre Studies A2 provides a sound basis for students who wish to proceed to Higher Education to further train for the profession at either Drama School or University. It also offers a useful background for a career in: Humanities, Business, Counselling, Teaching and much more.
