Pastoral & Learning Support
We aim to identify and plan for every child’s individual learning requirements, and to provide appropriate additional support for children with special educational needs.  From ‘Booster’ groups for spelling or maths, or extra input for ‘Able & Gifted’ pupils, we aim to provide opportunities which allow all children to make the best possible progress right from their early years.

At Elleray we take good care of children:

  • A zest for life and a sense of humour are encouraged
  • Sound discipline and clear boundaries promote appropriate behaviour
  • Meals are home cooked and nutritious
  • Individual effort and achievement are recognised and celebrated
  • Our Day Matron is qualified in First Aid, as are all of our teachers
  • Playtime staff encourage children to enjoy the challenging adventure trail, swings and climbing equipment safely and sensibly
  • Log cabins, dens, sandpits, lawns, trees and Wendy houses provide many opportunities for creative and adventurous play
  • Elleray boarders live at Windermere St Anne's and are very much part of life there in the evenings and at weekends, but also join their Elleray friends for visits and outings

Courtesy, thoughtfulness towards others and care of ourselves are all part of the Elleray spirit.

Additional individual learning support with a specialist dyslexia tutor is also available at an additional charge.

Overall, our aim is to promote an atmosphere of encouragement, acceptance and respect for achievements in which all children can thrive.  Sensitivity to individual needs and styles create a climate of warmth and support in which self-confidence and self-esteem can grow.
