Welcome to our Senior School (11-16 years)
the first years of secondary education can bring mixed feelings, not least excitement, anticipation and uncertainty. At Windermere St Anne's we endeavour to create an environment in which young students can grow in confidence, allowing their academic abilities and personalities to flourish.
The campus, nestled in the trees overlooking Windermere provides all the room students need to develop in a safe environment. The Senior School has broadly even numbers of boys and girls, and a similar ratio of boarding to day pupils. Browhead is the hub of school activity and includes the girls' boarding house. Langdale House, our purpose-built boys' boarding house, provides an excellent space, with a junior and senior common room for all pupils to enjoy during break times.
All students dine in our impressive dining hall with views over the lake. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided in the dining room for boarding students, with regular BBQ's by the lake at Hodge Howe over the summer term.
A culture of challenge encourages students to broaden their horizons and accomplish remarkable things - with the care and support of staff and peers alike. Our goal is to ensure that students realise their true potential. Small class sizes, highly-skilled educational practitioners and an emphasis on 'learning by doing' have all helped the school to maintain consistently high academic standards.
Students are guided responsibly towards their GCSE examinations and encouraged to look ahead to the challenges of the Sixth Form and beyond. Many of our former students go on the take places at prestigious universities, secure in the knowledge that life at WSA has prepared them for this next important step
